Cobleskill is located in New York’s Schoharie County-a picturesque and historic area approximately 160 miles northwest of New York City and midway between Albany and Oneonta. Schoharie County offers a rare combination of rural life and direct access to the services and activities of a metropolitan area-New York’s Capital Region. Albany lies only a 40-minute drive northeast of the town. The county is in close proximity to such splendors as the Adirondack Park, the Catskill Mountains, and the Mohawk Valley.

With a history that dates to 1711, the Cobleskill area is a treasure trove of historic sites and museums. The State University of New York College of Agriculture and Technology is also located at Cobleskill.

With a population of 6,400, the median age is 33 with 95% Caucasian. As of the 2000 census, 1,287 families reside in the town with a median income for a family of $46,875. Only 38.82% of the people in Cobleskill affiliate with a religion: 12.25% are Catholic; 22.43% are Protestant.

New Paltz is strategically and scenically located along the Hudson River. From any direction, the drive to New Paltz is memorably beautiful.

Every season invites company to the mid-Hudson region. The Hudson River valley abounds with lush foliage in the spring and summer, followed by autumn’s rich palette of color. Skiing enthusiasts wait impatiently for winter’s first snowfall. With the State University of New York New Paltz, the area is abundant with opportunities for educational enrichment . The nation’s oldest street lined with the original houses of the Dutch and French Huguenots is here as well.

With nearly 13,000 residents, the town’s population is approximately 82% Caucasian and 6% African-American. The median income for a household in the town is $40,500 and the median income for a family is $55,500. The area is ‘over-churched and under-reached’ with less than 2% of the population in a saving relationship with Jesus and attending an evangelical church. Half the population claims no religious affiliation and one-third identify themselves as Catholic.

North Adams, located in the northwest corner of Massachusetts, is 30 miles from Pittsfield. Formerly a mill town, North Adams is experiencing a cultural revitalization. Home of the largest contemporary art museum in the United States, the Massachusetts Museum of Contemporary Art, North Adams has become a regional center for tourism, culture and recreation. Located in the beautiful Berkshire Mountains it has 5 ski centers nearby and a wealth of outdoor recreational opportunities.

The city’s population of 15,000 is 95% Caucasian with a median age of 38. The median household income is $34,000/year. 60% of the households can be described as workers in the manufacturing and services industries. 25% of the population claims no religious affiliation. Though most are not practicing, 50% identify themselves as Catholic. Another 10% identify as Mainline Protestant and less than 2% as Evangelical.

New Life Community Church, in nearby Pittsfield, is committed to this church plant.Five member families have established relationships in North Adams that will accelerate church growth. New Life’s Pastor is committed as a mentor and supporter and the congregation has enthusiastically voted to support this church plant. North Adams has been very receptive to Backyard Bible Clubs and outreach events with numbers of people indicating that they would attend a new church.

Home to the famous Saratoga Race Track, the current county population of over 200,000 is expected to continue to grow at a double-digit rate over the next 5 years.

Another heavily Catholic town, this area would need a special church plant that would reach the wealthy white-collar crowds that frequent the area. Nearby SBC church plants have been successful and have a desire to support ongoing outreach into this area.
